Because good god...
I've been losing between 0,8-1kg a week quite steadily for about 10 weeks, but there's 10-14 days every month where everything goes awry and the loss gradually stops and the weight slowly climbs back up for a while. It's maddening! I plan my meals for variety (my best attempt at ensuring I'm getting the nutrients I need), but track them all carefully and prepare them at home, so I know I'm not off due to any uncontrollable urge to eat junk during this time - I do allocate more calories for snacks for that reason, though. I'm looking forward to the 30g of Lindt chocolate + the coconut/chocolate protein bar I'll eat today 😆
I've read that a lot of people here experience a big "whoosh" once that's done and lose quite rapidly, but that's not my case either. Once that's done, things just gradually go back to normal, but the weight I was "supposed to have lost" with my regular deficit over those 2 weeks doesn't go anywhere. I understand that has to be water retention, but I guess my body just holds on to it for longer? It's a bit disheartening, even if it doesn't affect my overall resolve to lose weight.
(I naturally eat a low sodium diet - it very, very rarely goes above 2g in a day, mainly due to me not really eating processed food beyond some pre-seasoned tofu, the occasional veggie burger or cottage cheese. My potassium seems decent, too, given that the bulk of my meals are always veggies or leafy greens, and I also eat a lot of fruit. As for magnesium, I supplement it.)
