question for walking with weights

Hey! This might be a dumb question, but I get kinda lost when it comes to making sure I’m doing the right kinds of exercises. My goal is to become skinnier, and I know that muscle+protein+weight lifting can help you look more lean, but in my experience it’s always made me a bit bulkier if i wasn’t careful with the right exercises.

So my question is, would walking with 5lb weights on either each ankle or each wrist make me look skinnier or bulkier? It would be a total of 10lbs added. (maybe even 20lbs if i decide to buy another pair)

Sorry if my question is dumb, i’m just cautious and don’t want to spend money on something that might not give me my desired results. Thanks in advance! ☕️
