Please share your story of the first months of this year.. What has changed since then? Numbers-on-scale, maybe, but I’m more curious about the other things you notice that are different.
I’m getting back on the wagon. I regained weight (about 15lbs) in the last 30 months, after more or less maintaining a 50lbs loss for seven years.
I feel like the longer this weight-increase is going on, the harder it is to focus on what can be achieved in three months. And the harder it gets to stick to the plan and not get discouraged by the duration of the journey.
On my first losing journey I didn’t know where I would go. Every lost pound was a new discovery of better looking cheekbones, cloths that fitted more comfortably, and most of all easier and more joyful movement. Although it wasn’t easy, I did really enjoy the process.
Since then, I have continued to exercise, (and a lot of my extra weight is muscle), and I know the healthy food that I like. I just ate too much of it. With the help of psychologist I have deciphered when and how the stress-eating habits occur, and how to avoid the blaming myself > feeling worthless > numbing this with even more chocolate > pothole that I would throw myself into.
I’m in a better place. I’m not judging myself anymore.
I have started to track calories again and find that it helps to give clarity in my thoughts and stop the constant doubt and “hassle” between my monkey and my adult-brain. I know that this is for the long run. It’s okay if it takes another year. I hope to live for another fifty.
It would just be a bit easier if I can also imagine what happens in three months (apart from a lower number on the scale). Can you help me with your story?
