Recently had my first doctor's visit in 4 years due to COVID, school, depression, and fear. Switched to adult care, met new doctor and nurse practitioner. Got a lipid panel test; LDL is 105 mg (near optimal/borderline elevated, increased by 25 mg in 5 years).
Yesterday I received a message in My Chart from my doctor who recommended to:
- Follow Mediterranean diet
- Engage in 150 minutes of aerobic exercise. Despite my initial weight loss goals, I now focusing on overall health. I Lost 30+ pounds in 3 years but faced mental health challenges. Now I have no choice but to commit to a healthier lifestyle.
I’ve been struggling with family food environment; seeking tips on Mediterranean diet and reducing processed foods. Heading back to college next week, I’m planning on implementing these changes:
- Add veggies to every meal
- Increase water intake (gonna carry my half-gallon water bottle now)
- Include more whole wheat, beans, and healthier fats
- Incorporate running and walks alongside current strength workouts
- Emphasize omega-3 rich foods.
——— Any advice or suggestions for me?
