Hey folks.
Question for your collective experience - how do you incorporate enough fibre in your diet to remain regular without going over your calorie allowance?
I’m 5’3 1/2 and eating around 1200-1300 calories per day Monday - Friday, allowing room to flex up to around 1500-1600 at weekends if something crops up in life.
At the moment, my diet mainly consists of:
-
high protein yogurts for breakfast (160 total cals, 30k protein).
-
chicken / fish with veg for lunch. Veg is usually sprouts (about 10 - 12 = 100cals) which are high fibre as far as I can tell, or broccoli or a bit of both. Sometimes I wilt some spinach in, or some cauliflower. You get the gist though!
-
chicken / fish with veg veg for tea
Coffee with milk in the mornings, the occasional alcohol free beer (50 cals) in the evening if I’m craving something different and Pepsi Max isn’t hitting the spot!
I’m trying to curb snacking during the day totally since this is my downfall. I know this is a judgment free community and we’ve all got our vices so I’ll fess up: snacking on bread and butter is not a good idea ha ha ha and is a huge reason why I’ve ballooned since not tracking. Any snacks I do have are grapes.
Anyway. I’ve noticed my bowel movements are not regular at all and I’m quietly a bit worried.
On one hand, I’m eating less and in a relative significant deficit so there will be less in me - but I’d expect to still go daily or every other day but I’m not?
I am active - the last 2 days have been around 20k steps as we are dog sitting but otherwise averaging about 10k steps. Not loads of gym since I’m recovering from ankle surgery late December but it’s coming back slowly.
I know this is way too much info but curious if anyone is experiencing the same on a diet like this?
Maybe I should mix up the chicken for something like beans every other day?
Thanks for reading about my bowels!
