Anyone have any low calorie "filler" or "bulking" foods? Things you add to existing recipes so that you have "more" food, without really affecting the overall flavor or texture too much
I make myself a Taco Bowl every once in a while, and the ground beef is the most calorie dense part, but also there just isn't that much of it, so it lasts me for maybe 3 small bowls, and I don't want to overwhelm it with other veg so I can still taste the meat and taco seasoning part, and it all ends up feeling more like a lunch
I bought a food grinder, ground up a bunch of mushrooms, added them to the ground beef and adjusted the seasoning, and now I have about double the amount of "meat", and it tastes basically the same, and I didn't double the calories to get more of it
NOW I get a lot more veggies into the bowl, and feel way fuller and the whole meal now feels the size of a dinner
Another thing I do started because of The Bear
They make an omelet on the show, fill it with Boursin cheese, and top with some chips
Now Boursin cheese is DELICIOUS, and filling an omelet with enough cheese just skyrockets the calories, and breaks my bank as I can easily go through 1/3 of the little Boursin wheel for a few eggs
Now I take the Boursin, mix it up with cottage cheese, and the flavor is practically the same, but I easily have twice as much now, and more protein to boot!
I'm curious if anyone else has any good foods to "water down" your meals, boosting the amount you get to eat but not really affecting the overall flavor.
