Hey all sorry for the long post.
I recently started my diet, and I feel like meal prep has helped IMMENSELY... Assuming I did it right.
I'm worried I'm doing my math wrong or something because it's a lot of food, but it's so few calories.
Maybe I'm just too used to super small overly calorie rich portions, because previously I was just calorie counting the food I was already eating
So if you guys could fact check me I'd really appreciate it.
-------------------------------------------
Currently my meal prep is
Breakfast
110 calories for pack of fruit flavored oatmeal
160 for a protein shake
150 for a strawberry yogurt
Lunch
216 cal of rice (1/5th of 2 bags of boil in bag brown rice)
113 cal of baked chicken (1 half of a chicken breast fillet, calculated by weight on the pack)
21 cal of green beans (1/5th of 2 cans)
Dinner
216 for rice
130 for a tilapia fillet (90 cal for 4 oz, these average 5.8z)
78 for black beans (1/5th of a can, basically just a scoop)
And an extra protein shake, and granola bar (110 cal) at a dessert
------------------------------------
I made all the food in advance
Baked the chicken and fish for the recommended times using a meat thermometer to check them.
Then 2 cans of green beans, and a can of black beans to add some veggies and such to different meals to vary them. Then portioned the pot out by taking like 1/5th of the green beans roughly, 1/5th of the beans, etc.
This is a LOT of food
yet it comes out to only around 1550 calories.
Am I doing the math wrong here somewhere, or does this look about right?
Because if the math is right, Meal Prep may be an absolute hack for low calories, but very filling meals.
I think the grey area is the brown rice, and the meats. The process I used was described in the fish part, so I think that adds up
Like with the rice, it's 180 cals, for 1/3rd of a pack.
I use 4 packs total per week
My process was 4 (180x3) divided by 10(the number of portions)
giving me 216 per portion, I eat 2 portions a day.
Can someone tell me if I messed up somewhere, it all makes sense in my head, but my brain doesn't want to believe it was that easy to make low calorie meals.
