Down 40lbs but I'm not seeing it

Hello... so for some context, my starting weight/height was 6'2 307lbs. this august, on vacation at my grandma's house, I weighed myself for the first time in a while (1-2 or so years). When the scale read 307lbs i was really surprised, and it was a big eye opener since I had thought I was only around 250lbs since I didn't have much knowledge on weight/ weight gain since i weighed myself the last time before that. Anyways, since that day, I started my weight loss journey, not really tracking calories but eating a lot less of them and cutting out very high calorie foods and intermittent fasting, and I wasn't aware of how much weight I lost since then until today because we don't have a scale at my house (i live with my parents since i'm a teen and most the ones i see are expensive otherwise i'd buy one) and I never really felt like I lost that much weight, but I stuck with it. I noticed I lost fat from my face mostly, but not too much that noticable other than that. My parents would comment saying they noticed I lost weight but i really just feel/felt (still kinda feel like) they were just saying it to be nice. Anyways, recently, I came back to my grandmas house today for another trip, and I weighed myself, only expecting maybe like a 10 pound loss, and I was really happy, but almost confused I lost a whole 40lbs (now 271, although it's probably a bit less since I ate a large cheat meal about an hour or so before weighing myself). I was very happy I lost all that weight but i feel kind of dissapointed (not exactly the right word not sure how to describe it) since i barely see any changes in the mirror. My grandma immediately said i seem slimmer when she saw me the first time which was nice to hear but i cant see it myself. Was a lot of it water weight and not fat? Did i lose a lot of muscle and just not the fat? Idk, i'm confused, I know people have a hard time noticing changes, but 40 pounds seems like a lot for me only to notice very little change, and I'm wondering if there's any other reason other than brain lag.

Sorry for the long post, just looking for answers.
