Can I lift heavy and be on a calorie deficit to lose weight?

or should I lift light weights on increased reps to lose weight? I progressively overload at the gym. I cannot feel anything with lightweight on increased repetitions. I am a 26F. 5'5ft. CW: 153-155lbs (fluctuating). GW is 140lbs. As soon as I reach GW, I am planning to take creatine. I hit the gym 4 to 5 times a week since I work overnight 12 hr. shifts. I am intuitively including more protein in my diet. My workouts include 2 lower body, 2 upper, and 1 cardiovascular exercise or vice versa. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
