Help getting started?

Like many of you, I’ve been successful with weight loss before. Covid + divorce = body I’m no longer happy with and which gives me physical discomfort. It’s time for me to lose it (and hopefully gain some better strategies for keeping it off).

My struggle here is how to get myself started. I’ve never been able to pinpoint what it was that gave me that nudge to get going, and my depression makes a pretty convincing point that it’s easier to stay on the couch wrapped in a blanket, eating pimiento cheese and crackers.

I’ve managed to get myself going to an intense yoga class 3-4 times a week, but I know the issue here is diet, not activity. How do I make myself start and last for more than two days? How have you convinced yourself to overcome your inertia? My partner doesn’t care what size I am and never knew me slimmer, my therapist is focused on body positivity, and I’m having a really hard time caring about being accountable to myself… all while spending every day miserable and uncomfortable.

What worked for you?
