You must have heard from somewhere that you need to get at least 10k steps in. That’s because it burns up to an extra 300-400 calories which means you’ve earned a sweet treat.
If you’ve done this before you probably realize it’s not as easy as expected, maybe because you’re sitting the whole day because of your job. If you haven’t done this before believe me it can be time consuming if done all at once and not planned.
It was really easy for me to get 10k steps a day if I have nothing to do but how can you manage to hit this goal if you’re busy at work. I figured out 3 ways that helped me reach my step goal daily:
Meal time walks: Normally after a meal there’s a lot of time you spend sitting and doing nothing. So once you’re done with a meal, relax for a bit. With the last 10-15 minutes of your meal time get up and walk. This will add up to an extra 3-4.5k steps a day.
Create distance: We’ve become lazy and normally look to move as little as possible. We park close to building entrances, take elevators or walk to the closest bathroom. Try parking a little further from building entrances so you get a couple more steps in, take the stairs, think about ways you can create distance to get in a couple extra steps.
Mix in entertainment: You can easily get in a ton of steps if you make it fun. If you like watching Netflix then grab your phone and walk for an episode. If you want to listen to an audiobook or music do so while taking a stroll. In these times you will walk a lot further than you think because you’re distracted.
