Hi! Any advice is appreciated :)
I’ve been overweight my whole life (5’5 hw-220). I went from 220 to 180 over the course of a year and a half. It was a very slow process mostly bc I would be consistent for a month, have a bad meal, then be off track for 2, repeat. This past summer, I went from 185 to 170. The was the longest I had been consistent for one period of time ever. In the beginning, it was very healthy; I was calorie counting and working out. But by the end, I was so stressed over food that I literally cried over eating pizza during vacation. I started to trying to lower my calories to 1200 (sometime lower) just to lose faster. This inevitably led to binge eating again and I’ve been on an up and down roller coaster since September. For the last month, I haven’t binged, but I definitely havent been eating good. I just weighed myself and I’m 180. Honestly, I’m really upset because I worked so hard this summer and I’m literally the same weight. I also notice the weight and feel super bloated/unhappy. I want to make a change before it gets worse.
Any advice on how to lose weight healthily? What can I do different from last time? How do I lose weight without it consuming my life? I want this to be a lifestyle change bc I’m so tired of the yo-yo dieting that has been my life.
Scale? I was weighing myself everyday. I found that I was getting slightly frustrated over the numbers and it caused me to really focus on weight loss/food/weight every single day. However, I think it was extremely beneficial in keeping me on track. I haven’t weighed myself in weeks before today and genuinely believe that if I weighed in earlier, I wouldn’t have gained 10 pounds bc I would’ve caught the weight gain earlier.
Also, advice on my calories? I was eating in a 500 cal deficit but I was so hungry. However, I don’t workout so I’m solely losing weight by eating less. My goal weight is 150.
Btw- I am seeing a therapist and discussing why I turn to food and binge eating, but I do actively want to lose weight.
