Slow Steady Success

I'm like most people here. I have had plenty of day 1's. Made plenty of resolutions over the years and I'm probably older than most. But for me, the aha moment came in 2019. The University of South Carolina was looking for people to join a food study. Specifically they were looking for black males or females who were significantly overweight to join something called "Soul Food Study". The study's goal was to have two cohorts or groups. One focusing on a vegan diet while the other focused on a plant based diet (meat allowed but lean cuts). I was in the plant based cohort. They wanted to take staple meals in the black community and rework them so that they were healthy. In essense I was taught how to eat healthy. They also emphasized movement or exercise. I never had a problem with exercise, since I play racquetball and bike. I just didn't eat right. I started the study in May 2019 at 308 lbs. By correcting my eating, making healthy choices and continuing to exercise, I am presently at 234 lbs. It has been a slow steady loss for me, but because I have learned to eat healthy, it is now part of my life. I have about 40 pounds more to go, but I don't stress it anymore. I know if I continue to eat healthy and exercise it will come off.
