When I was 23 I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes. I should have realized sooner but over the course of 1 or 2 months leading up to my diagnosis, I was losing weight, going from 200 to 170 despite eating a lot. That's the only time in my entire life I've lost weight.
I'm 30 now, and I've just hit 270 for the first time in my entire life. I know that if I were to eat 1000 calories a day in a very very strict regimen and walked 10,000 steps a day and hit the gym that I could lose the weight, but that's just unrealistic for me.
I enjoy eating, it's one of the few daily pleasures in my life. I've tried cutting back multiple times and I just feel bad all day. What I have managed to do was to switch from regular sodas to diet, and I've tried walking in the evenings recently. Although I'm recovering from covid and haven't gone for a walk in about 3 weeks. I actually went to the gym for around 2 months back in Feb of this year, and guess what? I actually GAINED weight. I put on around 8 pounds in those 2 months. I've watched a few youtube vids and did some reading and that wasn't muscle, people don't put on muscle that fast. I was just putting on extra fat.
I want to lose weight, I want to get back down to around 200 like I was in my early 20's. But I just don't think I can do it. 70 pounds is a lot of weight. My metabolism has definitely slowed. I need food otherwise I feel like complete shit all day. I just don't see how I can do it.
