Forgive me if this isn't the best place to ask.
My brother in law was diagnosed with hypothyroidism today, and unfortunately he didn't really ask any questions to the doctor. We're in China, and I don't really understand most of what he is trying to explain. I did some research, but am still a little confused.
Basically, he was told that something of a normal level is between 0 and 34, but he has over 1,000 of whatever this number is.
He wants to know if people take medication to "fix" this and if it will help him lose weight.
He has been trying to lose weight for about 6 months. He's been doing OMAD, and we work out together 5 times a week. He does not eat sugar, pretty much only drinks water, no alcohol, and eats a balanced, healthy meal most of the time.
His weight has pretty much stagnated at 150kg. Sometimes going up a bit then down, but always resting there.
I don't know enough about hypothyroidism or how it affects the body, so I thought maybe I would reach out to those who have experienced it here.
Thanks!
