Is it normal to drop weight very quickly once becoming active?

I’ve recently started exercising with frequency for health reasons and in the last 2 or 3 weeks I’ve dropped about 15lbs (270ish to 255). I’m drinking lots of water, so I’m wondering if it’s just normal to drop weight very quickly when you first become active?

I understand this level of weight loss is not sustainable and it’s not my goal to lose weight so rapidly, so I’m not actively doing anything to lose weight this fast like not eating.

I’m sorry if this is a stupid question.
