How to lift weights and see movement on the scale?

I (31/F) started at 245 and over the last month I’ve lost my first ten pounds so now down to 235. I finally met my first goal on the Happy Scale app after trying 1.7 million times, and I’m elated. I’ve only been doing CICO so far. I went on the elliptical a few times but haven’t done too much else. I used to lift weights for a while (months ago) but then I stopped do to a small surgery. I’d really love to start lifting again because I loved it SO MUCH!

The problem is that when I was lifting, I was also doing CICO and saw no movement on the scale. I know that muscle weighs more than fat and that initially your body holds onto water and that measurements matter more than the scale number BUT…I want to lose about 100 lbs at this point, so I definitely want/need the scale to move down. Both physically and also for my own mental satisfaction.

Is it worth it to do CICO along with lifting and just try to get past the number on the scale? Will it eventually go down, even while gaining muscle from lifting? Should I wait until my weight loss gains more momentum before incorporating weights?

I appreciate all of your insight so much! Thank you!
