I am in high school and still going through puberty, and I know I need an X amount of calories, especially in this stage, but I can't seem to find a way to meet that goal. I have already lost about 65 pounds, but I am still trying to get my erratic diet together (I have a hard time cutting out added sugar and processed foods). I've recently had a wake-up call that I need to get more nutrients after being diagnosed with severe anemia. I lift about 5-6 times a week and do cardio and core workouts sporadically.
My diet usually consists of
- A protein shake before breakfast
- Breakfast: usually oats or grits with some type of fruit (occasionally I'll have turkey bacon or sausage with it)
- Lunch: protein packs, chicken breast and veggies, salads (I usually eat popcorn, fruit, and nuts as a side when I have a protein pack)
- Dinner: usually a protein with a vegetable (I struggle with this meal the most because sometimes I give up and eat a turkey burger and sweet potato fries because that's easy to make)
I need ideas on how to get my nutrients and calories in for the day, preferably with minimal prep time and cooking. Thanks.
