Hi all, I've been reflecting on my multiple attempts to lose weight over the many attempts/years and success have always been shortlived. I've tried a lot from cico, keto, adf, IF, extended fasting etc. My most successful attempts were cico (really slow though), keto (no social life) and the too busy to eat life (was quite stressful period, was losing hair as well), so not much that could be kept long term.
Apart from my period of emotional eating (managing it with exercise now), I've realised that I'm generally greedy and like food. I grew up eating asian family meals (and eating quite well) and I'm used to having multiple flavours in a meal. So when I'm out eating I'm always tempted to order 2-3 dishes, especially if it's the restaurant's speciality/popular dish + what I feel like eating. Plus I grew up finishing my plate so no wonder my weight is up only. Now that I'm watching my food intake more carefully and putting my fork down after each bite, I notice that actually I start getting the sensation of being full really quite fast into the meal. For example right now I ordered a 4 cheese pizza for 1 and squid ink pasta which is still in my calories for the day. I'm getting the start of full sensation after a palm size serving of spaghetti and 2 pizza slice, I still have 90% of the spaghetti left and 3/4 of the pizza left. In the past I would just power through and finish the pizza + as much of the pasta as I could. But now that I'm watching, I have so much leftovers 😂 even when I'm cooking at home, I often get full sensation before I can hit the macros.
Right now I'm just accepting that that I like ordering multiple food, just eat till I'm slightly full and takeaway what I can't finish...but does this happen to anyone and does it get better as you lose the weight? It does get a bit expensive but I'm sort of used to it...
