I started my journey 8 months back, last august. Not been too strict, just a basic CICO. I figured this is going to be a lifestyle change, and it would make sense to slowly get into it. Till end of last October I was working in a job for which I had to walk 4 kms one way everyday. And it was hilly with a 20' incline for one whole km. Since I love walking, it wasn't too bad for me and I got used to it and even started looking forward to it. I lost over 6kgs (roughly 13 pounds) then, without too much effort.
Walking certainly did burn a bit of calories, but the most important part that it did was, it controlled my hunger pangs for quite a bit. I felt energetic and fresh, I had an urge to eat more fresh foods, that I did.
End of October I got another job, where I had to work from home. Since then to now I have only lost about 6 pounds. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled with it and glad I could maintain the journey (for the most part, did lose track for about a month there when I travelled). But looking back walking continuously for 3 months made a huge difference, and it certainly did help a lot. Even if maybe not physically, psychologically made me feel much better, and caused better eating habits.
Yesterday I decided to start up walking again. I have tried before, but sometimes lose motivation(after a long day of work sometimes I just wanna Netflix). I did 3 kms yesterday, and hope to make it to 8 one day. More importantly, hope to make it a consistent habit.
To people thinking of taking up walking, please do so! But do make sure you are not expecting your weight loss results just from that, diet always matters the most.
