Calorie deficit and Fasted training?

Hello, what are your thoughts on fasted training? I'm thinking about working out on a fast every morning with coffee (no additives) as a pre-workout. Do you think it would help me cut or the performance loss would not be worth it considering that i might lose muscle mass and strength? I am a beginner and my friend told me to cut right away as I am overweight (i started at 80 kg but im 78 kg now, a healthy weight at my height is around 68kg). I mostly do strength training with 15-20 mins cardio 5 times a week, it is my third week and I seem like I've hit a sort of a slump regarding weight loss cause im really conflicted on what to do, I'm gaining a little bit of weight too.

tldr: is fasted workout worth it or i should just stick to calorie deficit and 5 times a week routine for weight loss
