Even if you're going to take baby steps, start today. I weighed myself back in January and I was the heaviest weight I've ever been. 246 pounds, 25 year old male with extremely high blood pressure - I knew I needed to make a change. I had tried to change before but it was excuse after excuse why I wouldn't start on that day. "Thanksgiving is coming up I'll start after that" - "We have friends coming over tonight I'll start tomorrow" it was always something. Today I woke up and weighed myself and I'm currently 219 pounds, 27 pounds down.
I'm down 27 pounds without being on a strict diet. I just took baby steps along the way. I don't drink pop anymore (probably the most difficult transition but it really wasn't that bad after a week.) I aim to just eat less every meal than I normally would have when I was at my heaviest. I also try and find some time to take a 20 minute walk every day. I also still treat myself every once in a while, usualy this is by pigging out on Red Robin fries with my son once a month.
Back in January I thought I was just destined to be overweight. I didn't think it was possible to actually become skinny again, but here I am 27 pounds lighter than I was. I can only imagine where I'd be today if I would have actually started when I realized I had a problem. I can't dwell on my past excuses, I can only look forward to what the scale will say in another 9 months time. Time is going to pass anyway, so just start today.
