Hey all! Sorry if this is too long but I’ve done some unpacking and think I’ve gotten to the root of my weight issue!
Stats: 54, 5’10, 195 cw, 248 sw. BMI 28.6, body fat percentage 26.2%, cardio fitness from Apple Health 34.2 above average for my age. Metabolic age 58 from my Renpho scale.
Context: I’ve struggled with my weight since my parents divorce at 12. It has been a rollercoaster of loss and gain. I’ve never made a weight goal since I feel I don’t deserve it since my father blamed me for the divorce. I’m done with that shit and am moving on. I’m releasing all of that shame.
On to the goal question: Since I’ve never made a number goal, should I set one now that I’ve unpacked my baggage? I feel could make one now.
Should I set a goal that is more in line with what I want my life to be like, which is healthy and able to do everything I want? I don’t care what I look like, my wife loves my body. I just want to stop hating it! I workout daily and eat a plant based diet. Really, I’d like my new ski pants to fit after another rollercoaster gain!
So, to recap: should my goal be a number or a less measurable lifestyle change? I would like my fat percentage to be in the healthy range and my cardio fitness to be higher. I also want to ski the best I can this season.
