Hey there lovelies. I just discovered Allulose. It’s a rare sugar that occurs naturally in things like wheat and raisins. It’s about 70% as sweet as cane sugar, but our bodies do not break it down and so the FDA has approved it and allowed products containing it to be marked 0g sugar and to say that it is 0 cal. Because it just about as sweet as sucrose sugar, it can be used 1:1 without causing tolerance to sweetness.
I discovered Allulose when I found these wonderful candies called “Smart Sweets.” The watermelon sour bites are my favorite. I just purchased a pricy ($24/lb) bag of Splenda Brand Allulose. It is made from corn. It does not contain and Sucralose (saccharin (TM)). So far, I’ve used it to sweeten some peach tea and some Greek yogurt. It tastes just like sugar to me.
Has anyone else tried Allulose? What do you think? I have not had any digestive issues or anything like that since trying it which I know was an issue with altered sugars like xylitol. I’d love to hear what others have to say about their experiences good and bad with this new sugar.
