Reposting because first submission was too short.
Last year, I had a major realization that my eating habits where not normal when I could not stop eating candy on Halloween. It was like a siren's song, impossible to resist or stop. I did not start actively attempting to lose weight until November 21st, 2018, and since then have lost about 60 pounds and have hit my goal. I also went vegan that same day, (from vegetarian) which has prevented me from eating many of my "trigger" foods.
I have redefined my relationship with food and it is evident tonight because I only ate a few pieces of candy until satisfaction and then could put the bowl away. If you had told me last year that I would be able to do that, I would not believe you, because I had done it every Halloween prior. I also put some candy in my purse where it still remains, whereas before, candy would not even last thirty minutes from when I originally put it in. This is also an improvement from Easter, where I had a minor relapse in candy-related binging. Because of that, I was apprehensive of tonight, but I am glad that it went well.
It's kind of weird to me that restriction actually freed me from my food addiction.
I want to thank this sub for being my main reading material when I was actively trying to lose weight and happy Halloween ya'll!
Also because I am paranoid about this being too short again what is your favorite type of candy? My favorites when vegetarian were baby ruths and heath bars and my favorites now are swedish fish and sour patch kids.
