I need help with cutting out sweets and other extras

Hi all!

I've been lurking here for awhile and figured I might as well make a post to see if anyone has advice. I've done a bunch of different diets in the past, some more successful than others. About 5 weeks ago, I joined a kickboxing gym and go 4-5 times a week and I've really enjoyed it.

However, I haven't lost any weight. I haven't changed my diet at all since I started. My diet has been mostly eating whatever I want, but trying to get more protein. So, it's not great.

Sweets are my downfall, though I do enjoy salty snacks as well. I dont feel like a meal is "over" until I eat something sweet. I've gotten out of the habit before, but I can't think of how i managed it before. I know once i stop, itll be easier, but I just keep saying "one more day" or find some reason to celebrate on the weekend and say I'll start the following week. I also hate the taste of artificial sweetener, so I don't even enjoy sugar-free options.

For the record, I'm 5'5" 170lbs with an eventual goal weight of 140lbs.

Anyone have similar issues or any advice?
