Hi guys! New to the thread. I’ve been steadily gaining weight the last 8 years and I just can’t handle it anymore. I’m an avid hiker and the extra 40 lbs (5’5” tall) I’m carrying are slowing me down too much. I’ve started some changes but I had some questions:

Just a note, I (29f) struggled with anorexia from 16-20 years old, so in the past I have stayed away from counting calories because I don’t want to get obsessive. However, if any of you have had disordered eating, then counted calories without backsliding I’m open to ideas on how to do that.

  1. What are your favorite things to pan-cook foods in (like scrambled eggs, stir-fry, ect) if you are trying not to use oil? Or should I use different cooking methods?
  2. I really need to cut down on portion sizes. Have you guys “weaned yourself off” or just gone straight to properly sized portions? I get nausea if I don’t eat “enough” during the day but I’m clearly eating too much.
  3. What was the change that worked best for you personally? Thank you all so much for your help/feedback.
